Bengals Early Bird Special

Good morning everyone! I hope you all had a peaceful Wednesday. If not then oh well. It's Thursday meaning it's almost the weekend. Only one more day until you can begin to party, relax, or whatever it is you do with your spare time.

Alright so the Bengals are $35.9 million under the cap. This means that they have money to spend. Mike Brown will be forced to open his wallet for once.

The question is what route do the Bengals take? Do they go ahead and re-sign a portion of their current free agents to long-term deals or do they sign players who are set to be free agents after the season to long-term deals? Or wait a minute, do they mix and match by signing "key" players who are free agents and some who are going to be free agents to long-term contracts?

Honestly, I cannot wait to see what frustrations and agony Mike Brown will bestow upon the fans and organization.

In a semi-perfect world the Bengals would hire a general manager, re-sign J.J., Leon Hall, Brandon Johnson, Brian Leonard, and Dhani Jones, and give away light sabers to every fan. But we live in a world of imperfections and knowing Mike Brown none of those or maybe only one (giving away light sabers......I mean re-signing Hall) will occur.

Let the extravaganzas begin! But not at the moment. Maybe sometime later today or over the weekend.

Alright here is a look at what you may have missed or overlooked from Wednesday.

  • Reasons were presented as to why the Bengals should re-sign running back Cedric Benson, despite his recent legal woes. It will be interesting to see what the Bengals decide to do with Benson. If they don't bring him back then who is going to be the replacement?
  • The alleged victim of the Cedric Benson assault is now demanding a settlement.
  • We examined some of the best rookie quarterback performances during the first regular season game. It will be interesting to see how Andy Dalton compares to some of the listed quarterbacks.
  • Single game tickets go on sale this Saturday and on Friday the Bengals will determine whether or not they plan to continue holding training camp in Georgetown.
  • Andrew Whitworthleft the NFLPA meeting discussing the new Collective Bargaining Agreement. NOTE: The new CBA is not completed yet.
  • Peter King is certain that the Bengals will now be entering the "Andy Dalton Era." I'm not too sure on that one just yet.
  • Also according to Peter King, Carson Palmer will not end up in Seattle. That's okay, Seattle is the place where careers go to die.
  • Keith Rivers and Rey Maualuga could rank as top-ten linebackers in the NFL. Well at least the Bengals can be ranked for a good reason.
  • A.J. Green scores an 80 in Madden 2012. That's awesome? I suppose?
