UPDATE: It should be noted that soon after Benson's signing, ESPN's John Clayton quickly tweeted "cancel" the Ahmad Bradshaw trip. While it makes sense that Bradshaw would cancel, apparently the Giants running back has Clayton's phone number on speed dial or Clayton has the gull to speculate on Bradshaw's plans without conferring with him. Just saying.
Just before ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter reported that the Cincinnati Bengals agreed to a one-year deal with running back Cedric Benson, ESPN Senior Writer John Clayton tweets that Ahmad Bradshaw will make a trip to Cincinnati to visit with the team (hopefully someone drives up from Georgetown so Bradshaw isn't met with a completely deserted Paul Brown Stadium).
The Giants apparently aren't close to re-signing RB Ahmad Bradshaw. He's scheduling a trip to Cincy for a visit.
We have to admit that since the Adam Schefter report regarding Benson's signing, if the whole Bradshaw visit would be called off. Or if the Bengals would still attempt to sign Bradshaw, giving the team a suddenly dangerous trio of Benson, Bradshaw and Bernard Scott.
It's also not outside the realm of possibility that Bradshaw could be using the Bengals to strong-arm the New York Giants into action whereas the Bengals could be using Bradshaw to force Benson into a decision; considering interest for Benson was extremely poor from other teams, Benson had really no choice once the Bengals proved they were moving on. And considering that it only took ten minutes from Clayton's tweet until Schefter's report that the Benson agreed to terms, it would seem the most likely scenario.
It will be interesting to see how this plays out.
