While cataloging my extensive video game collection, for a brief moment I began reminiscing. For the better part of my entire life, I've been a gamer which started with my first system called an Atari 5200; which was around the same time that the personal computer revolution was hitting with Apples and the Commodore PET.
Memories of playing Missile Command, a game in which you're defending your city from an onslaught of ballistic missiles with the high-end graphics being nothing more than straight lines coming from the top of the screen, reminds me of a simply time in life. Space Invaders, Q*bert, Pole Position, Joust...
"Just give me the rock."
Wait. Hold on a second. What's that, Benson?
"Just give me the rock."
Apparently Bengals running back Cedric Benson just wants the rock.
Carlos Holmes of the Dayton Daily News writes that one of the many players excited about the implementation of the new offense includes the team's feature back for the past three seasons.
"I think I fit into this offense really well and I’m excited about the challenge," Benson said. "Everyone already knows that I can run the ball, but I can catch it as well. It’s all about who’s throwing the ball. The coaches saw how much we were open on film often. The scheme is not going to get me the ball, it’s the quarterback throwing it."
Benson is also noticing the change within the core of this team, ranging from new leaders and youthful exuberance.
"I don’t ever want to look back at the 2010 season," Benson said. "This is a new team and time to be winners. We have a lot of young talent and they’re going to be excited to play. That’s a dangerous combination, young talent and excited to play. I know these young guys are going to play their butts off. I want to do my part. Just give me the rock and let me roll."
Rock on.
Great. Now I want to play Madden. Video games rule.
