Bengals DE Dunlap Will Likely Sit Out Against the Lions on Friday

We reported earlier this week that Cincinnati Bengals defensive end Carlos Dunlap had missed three practices with a sore knee and his status for Friday's preseason opener against the Detroit Lions was likely up in the air.

Well, to update you on Dunlap's situation, the mothership's Geoff Hobson wrote last night that Dunlap will more than likely sit out on Friday.

Left end Carlos Dunlap, who was second to Suh among all rookies with 9.5 sacks, looks shelved for Friday. He hasn't worked this week with a knee issue that doesn't appear to be serious.

Dunlap missed the first couple games of the 2010 season because of a knee injury suffered in the preseason so it's good that Dunlap is resting up so his knee is better when the games matter.

Dunlap is likely to be joined on the sidelines by Bernard Scott (hamstring), Lolomana Mikaele (bicep... also, that's the coolest name ever), Jonathan Wade (shoulder), Brandon Ghee (unknown) and Andrew Hawkins (unknown).

No official list has been released.
