Now that the Bengals have played their first preseason game, we have seen our first glimpse of the 2011 Bengals. CincyJungle.com contributors David Wellman, Joe Goodberry and Anthony Cosenza were good enough to join me Sunday afternoon to discuss that glimpse.
We all decided that, for the most part, liked what we saw from rookie quarterback Andy Dalton and from the receivers. We also all agreed that the interior offensive line is going to be a big problem for Dalton and the team as a whole if something isn't done to fix it soon. We thought that the defense didn't play as well as we expected them to but we liked what we saw from a couple players, namely middle linebacker Rey Maualuga.
All in all, though, we were all disappointed and it showed.
At the end of the show, we went around and graded gave grades to the offense, defense, special teams and the team as a whole. I won't spoil it for you but you can imagine that the grades aren't too terribly high. We ran out of time before I was able to give my grade for the team. I would say that I sit between Joe and Dave. Listen and figure it out.
Thank you to our listeners for calling in and participating on the open thread. You guys definitely make the show more interesting for us.
