While declaring that Tom Brady is the very best player in the NFL, Scouts Inc. released their top 200 players in the NFL on Tuesday. Obviously we're more interested in Bengals players; kind of our thing being a Bengals blog and all. Though generally speaking, lists like this don't interest us much. Sure it would be nice if every starter on offense and defense were listed as the top 200 players in the NFL; we just shouldn't expect much love for the simple interaction of youth and transitions.
Unsurprising Andrew Whitworth is listed as the best player with the Cincinnati Bengals, ranked 85th overall according to Scout, Inc's rankings. What they write about our boy Whit:
Whitworth has excellent size, strength and toughness with average athleticism. He has a great feel for angles and how to gain leverage with proper hand use and body positioning.
He has good strength as a run blocker at the point of attack and is able to anchor well versus powerful bull rushers. He lacks great lateral agility and quickness versus quick counter moves.
Other notes of interest includes Justin Smith ranked 25th, Donte Whitner ranked 117th, Johnathan Joseph ranked 149th, Takeo Spikes ranked 157th. Six of the top-25 are players from the Steelers (3), Ravens (2) and Browns (1).
