According to Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com, former Tennesse Titans tight end Bo Scaife may have suffered a season-ending shoulder injury against the Carolina Panthers Thursday night (which should be confirmed on Saturday). Cincinnati signed Scaife to a one-year deal for only $1 million on August 5, primarily to backup Jermaine Gresham as a receiving tight end, which also put Chase Coffman's uncertain future with the team at risk.
Now you have to assume, if Cincinnati planned on taking three tight ends (which is customary but by no means a certainty), that the two spots behind Gresham were going to be fought between three players. With the possibility of Scaife being out of the season, that should take care of the position with Coffman and undrafted free agent Colin Cochart, who isn't expected to pass through waivers for the team to sign onto the practice squad, as your 2011 tight end roster.
