Adam Schefter Tweets Ruination All Over the Bengals Nation: Whitner Going to 49ers

There must be some confusion between the Bengals, the 49ers and former Bills safety Donte Whitner. We reported earlier, along with Bengals.com and Joe Reedy of The Cincinnati Enquirer, that Whitner has agreed to a two-year deal with the Cincinnati Bengals. However, just recently, Adam Schefter and Whitner himself decided to throw a curveball (that struck Bengals nation right in the temple) by Tweeting that Whitner was actually signing with the 49ers.

From Schefter:

Former Bills S Donte Whitner did NOT go to Cincinnati. He agreed to a 3-year, $11.75 million deal with $4 million gtd with the 49ERS.less than a minute ago via UberSocial for BlackBerry Favorite Retweet Reply

To recap: the 49ers put one safety on the trade block in a mass email and landed another that tweeted he was going to be a Bengal.less than a minute ago via UberSocial for BlackBerry Favorite Retweet Reply

And from Whitner himself:

Its official...49ers it is! Funny how God works...instead of playing against the 9ers I'm playing w/ the 9ers...less than a minute ago via UberSocial Favorite Retweet Reply

If Bengals fans weren't used to getting our hopes up only to have them crushed, Whitner heading to the 49ers after Tweeting "Who Dey" wouldn't make as much sense.

The only thing I can say...... figures.
