The Bengals take the field against the Indianapolis Colts for their fourth and final preseason game in just under 90 minutes. They are doing so without any of their starting cornerbacks or safeties as well as some other players. According to Joe Reedy, the Bengals will sit 15 players tonight.
#bengals not playing R.Nelson, Clements, Jennings, A.Jones, Scott, Hall, Benson, Crocker, Moch, Rivers, Hudson, Shirley, Scaife, Geathers, Dunlap
We knew that the team would be without Carlos Dunlap (knee), Cedric Benson (prison), Dontay Moch (foot) and Keith Rivers (wrist). However, the fact that the team is sitting the entire secondary as well as Bernard Scott is somewhat surprising.
This means that the starters in the secondary will be Jonathan Wade and Morgan Trent at corner and Taylor Mays and Gibril Wilson as safety. It also means that Brian Leonard will be the team's starting running back tonight.
Starting #bengals secondary tonight -- Wade and Trent at the corners, Wilson and Mays at the safeties. Leonard starting at RB
This is nothing more than the coaching staff trying to figure out who to keep and who to cut before Saturday, when the Bengals have to trim their roster from 80 to 53.
