The Cincinnati Bengals have until 6:00 p.m. to reduce their active roster to the league's 53-man maximum. In doing so they'll be forced to either release 27 players or place injured players on appropriate lists that enables the team a roster exemption. We're charting the progress until the team's release of their 53-man roster, which should happen at some point this afternoon.
In the meantime, here's a chart of what's happened so far, reported through beat writers and league sources.
Player | Pos. | Acquired | Notes |
Jay Finley | RB | 2011 - 7th (246) | Expected. Started strongly but injuries crushed his chances. |
Fui Vakapuna | FB | 2009 - 7th (215) | Expected. Chris Pressley's performance knocked Vakapuna out. |
DeQuin Evans | LB | 2011 - UDFA | Expected. Evans was a long-shot but received praise. Could return to the practice squad if he clears waivers. |
Brandon Ghee | CB | 2010 - 3rd (96) | Expected. Durability became an issue with Ghee, who wasn't impressive enough when he did play. Practice squad eligible. |
Max Jean-Gilles | OG | 2011 - FA Signing | Struggled during the preseason to pass block backup defensive tackles; often bullrushed into the quarterback. |
Andrew Hawkins | WR | 2011 - UDFA | Played well on special teams but was a numbers casualty. Expected to the practice squad if he clears waivers. |
Korey Lindsey | CB | 2011 - 7th (207th) | Expected. Numbers game pushed him out, compounded with the fact he didn't generate much interest. |
