The Cincinnati Bengals won't learn whether their defensive coordinator will remain with the team until next week. Though he was eliminated as a candidate for Miami's head coaching vacancy, Mike Zimmer remains very much in the mix for the head coaching job in Tampa Bay.
The Buccaneers have completed interviews with Zimmer and Panthers offensive coordinator Rob Chudzinski this week.
According to the Tampa Bay Times, the Buccaneers are expected to speak with Packers offensive coordinator Joe Philbin and Packers quarterbacks coach Tom Clements by the weekend. It's not unexpected that the Buccaneers could interview a new candidate at some point new week, "such as (Giants defensive coordinator Jerry) Fewell, after the conference title games."
If Cincinnati is forced to replace Zimmer, the leading candidates continue being Bengals defensive backs coach Kevin Coyle and former Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Jack Del Rio.
With the recent firing of head coach Jim Caldwell, Zimmer could be a candidate for the vacant head coaching position in Indianapolis. However the known early candidates are New Orleans offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael and Tennessee Titans defensive coordinator Jerry Gray.
