Bengals running back Brian Leonard expectedly sat during Wednesday's practice after suffering a rib injury last Sunday against the Cleveland Browns. Though X-Rays came back negative, Leonard could miss this weekend's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, leaving two active running backs available. Cincinnati invited former Steelers running back John Clay for a workout, but apparently left Paul Brown Stadium without a contract.
In the meantime Leonard sat during Wednesday's practice, as the team prepares for Sunday Night Football against Pittsburgh.
Leonard is the second running back this year to suffer an injury that could lead to missed time. Bernard Scott, who missed three games this year, suffered a season-ending injury against the Miami Dolphins earlier this month.
Cedric Peerman, currently the only healthy back behind starter BenJarvus Green Ellis, posted a 48-yard run on a fake punt earlier this year and generated eight receptions for 76 yards receiving last week against the Browns.
