Bengals Players Power Rankings: Week Seven

The Cincinnati Bengals Player Power Rankings is a weekly ranking system that not only figures the best players on the team, but the players playing the best. Despite being out of their control, injuries and inactives are huge hits largely because they're not contributing. This week, we welcome back he-who-shall-not-be-named and see our signal-caller fall.

Rank Player Last Week Change Notes

1

A.J. Green

1

--

Green is everything to this offense/team. I'm ready to call him the best receiver in the NFL.

2

Geno Atkins

2

--

Atkins was great against the run and a very consistent threat every week for this defense.

3

Leon Hall

8

+5

Hall appears 100 percent healthy and looks great out there. He allowed one catch this week and has been great in every game since week one.

4

Andre Smith

5

--

Andre Smith is the best combination of pass protection and run blocking on the team. He's not the best at either, but his total package makes him very valuable.

5

Andy Dalton

3

-2

Andy falls this week after two poor performances. He looks to be regressing when it comes to pocket presence and composure. He'll snap out of it... we hope.

6

Andrew Whitworth

6

--

Andrew Whitworth is still a very smart and effective pass blocker, but again, he's doing nothing as a run blocker. Where's the trade-off? Superb in pass protection, dud in the run game.

7

Adam Jones

10

+3

This is as high as I can put a role player like Adam Jones but he has been excellent in coverage. If he can become the primary return man, he's in my team MVP discussion.

8

Reggie Nelson

7

-1

Nelson gave up his first big play of the season. He has the tendency to do that but he still has much more positive than negative plays on Sundays.

9

Carlos Dunlap

5

-4

Dunlap hasn't adjusted to playing more RDE. He's not getting that push like he normally got against opposing right tackles.

10

Michael Johnson

13

+3

Johnson seems to always be active and going 100 mph. He needs more rest because we can't afford him to wear down like he has in the past.

11

Mike Nugent

12

+1

He's a kicker. He's good.

12

Andrew Hawkins

11

-1

Hawkins seems to be getting used less according to his strengths and more as a traditional slot wide receiver. He could use some rest as well; he plays a lot on special teams also.

13

Jermaine Gresham

9

-4

Gresham missed his opportunity to enjoy a breakout performance in Cleveland. We need more consistency out of him.

14

Kevin Zeitler

15

+1

Zeitler is already a top 16 starting OG in the NFL. I'm having a blast watching him grow every week.

15

Vontaze Burfict

17

+2

Burfict may have had his best week. He missed a few tackles and sometimes takes a funky angle but he's their most active backer and has started to get under the skin of opposing players. Isn't that right, Alex Mack?

16

Clint Boling

16

--

Boling has topped off but that's OK. He's a solid starting NFL guard. I just wish he had a little more power.

17

Domata Peko

14

-3

Peko got his butt handed to him last week. He isn't as strong as he looks and ends up 3-4 yards back on half of the run plays. Pat Sims, please.

18

Manny Lawson

18

--

Lawson pulled his disappearing act again. Dan Skuta and Dontay Moch have begun taking away snaps.

19

Nate Clements

19

--

Clements must be getting old quickly. There's no reason to take him off the field on passing downs and one play in particular bit the Bengals for doing such. He must really need the rest.

20

Rey Maualuga

NR

--

I know. "WHAT?! Is you crazy?!" Rey hasn't been bad in three weeks. Especially against the run. He's a better player than the guys not on this list anymore.

Just Missed the Cut: Terence Newman, BenJarvus Green-Ellis, Kevin Huber, Cedric Peerman
