Peter King Recognizes Special Teams Play By Jeromy Miles

Jeromy Miles made a nice play on a late punt that pinned Miami next to their own goalline.

Every once in a while Peter King with Sports Illustrated surprises us. King has been a little more bashful against the Bengals, especially through the 90s when they've absolutely deserved it. Recently it's been more like "don't talk about them unless they do something extremely good or notoriously bad".

Yet that philosophy took a back seat momentarily.

During King's Monday Morning Quarterback, the former Cincinnati Bengals beat writer with the Enquirer, mentions the special teams play of Jeromy Miles during his Special Teams Player of the Week.

A questionable call was upheld after a replay challenge by Miami coach Joe Philbin, but Miles' save of a Kevin Huber punt -- seemingly as the ball was a grass-blade shy of hitting the goal line -- was the special teams play of the day. With the Bengals down 17-13, Miles' diving scoop pinned Miami deep in its own turf. Cincinnati's offense got it back with a chance to win, but Andy Dalton couldn't drive the Bengals to the winning score. Miles gave them a chance, though.

We should also point out that Andrew Hawkins slowed the punt just enough for Miles to swat the football back.
