The Bengals might be thrown a bit of a curveball this week when facing the Chiefs in Kansas City. According to reports, quarterback Brady Quinn told media members that he has been cleared to play for this Sunday's game against the Bengals. Quinn suffered a concussion in his first game as a starter this season against the Oakland Raiders back on October 28th. He had been dealing with symptoms for the subsequent weeks and apparently feels better this week.
Quinn hasn't exactly had the best NFL career to date, but he could provide some sort of spark for a reeling Chiefs squad. They return to Arrowhead Stadium this week after suffering a heartbreaking loss to the Steelers on Monday Night Football. Quinn was drafted in 2007 by the Cleveland Browns who were coached by Romeo Crennel. Quinn was brought to Kansas City by Crennel this offseason.
For all of his time in the NFL and the few years with the Browns, Quinn has only faced the Bengals once and that was in 2009. In that game, he was 15 of 34 passing with 100 yards, no touchdowns, no interceptions and a 54.1 rating. So far this season, Quinn has complied 26 completions on 44 attempts, 213 yards, zero touchdowns, three interceptions and a 43.1 rating.
It's not so much the threat of Quinn's abilities as much as the fear of unpreparedness to look for here. There's not much tape on Quinn this season and it's just now leaking that he might be active on Sunday.
