Bengals Players Power Rankings: Week Thirteen

The Cincinnati Bengals Player Power Rankings is a weekly ranking system that not only figures the best players on the team, but the players playing the best. Despite being out of their control, injuries and inactives are huge hits largely because they're not contributing. This week, we have a new player in the top spot.

Notes

1

Geno Atkins

2

+1

Geno Atkins is the best player defensive tackle in the NFL and candidate for Defensive Player of the Year.

2

A.J. Green

1

-1

Green had another big performance but you could argue that the Bengals didn't need to rely on him for maybe the first time since midseason... last year.

3

Andy Dalton

5

+2

Dalton is on FIRE. He now has 10 total touchdowns and zero turnovers during this three-game win streak.

4

Andre Smith

3

-1

He's past flashing potential; Smith is now dominating on a week-to-week basis.

5

Kevin Zeitler

6

+1

Zeitler hasn't hit a rookie wall. Instead, he's only accelerated his progression. He should be playing in Hawaii as a rookie.

6

Leon Hall

4

-2

Hall let up a big pass for only the second time since week one. He's covering well from the slot against the opposition's best receivers.

7

Andrew Whitworth

7

--

Not only did Whitworth have a better day run blocking, he later Johnny Cage'd their asses.

8

Adam Jones

8

--

Quite day for Pacman, helping to hold Darrius Heyward-Bey without a catch.

9

Jermaine Gresham

9

--

How about Gresham's run blocking lately? He's dialed in and contributing on every snap.

10

Michael Johnson

12

+2

He now has eight-sacks and has been solid against the run all year. He's going to get paid this offseason.

11

Clint Boling

11

--

Boling had a great day as both a run and pass blocker. Are we sure this is the same rookie from last year? Wow.

12

Carlos Dunlap

10

-2

Dunlap is getting decent pressure; he's just missed some sack opportunities. He's flashing more-and-more against the run.

13

Reggie Nelson

16

+3

Nelson was back and seemed to bring some toughness and athleticism back to the secondary. His value may have been overstated but I'd rather have him than not.

14

Vontaze Burfict

13

-1

Burfict hasn't hit the rookie wall, but he may have reached a plateau. I would like to see some flashes of progression.

15

Terence Newman

15

--

I've watched a lot of Newman in Dallas, this isn't the same player.

16

Rey Maualuga

20

+4

Rey seems to have shed some weight and looks healthy because he's running around like he used to. Can he completely erase the first six-games?

17

Andrew Hawkins

14

-3

Hawkins was out again and I almost gave his power rankings spot to Mohamed Sanu. I mean, his depth chart spot may be Sanu's also.

18

Domata Peko

18

--

Best game for Domata Peko all year. Welcome back, big guy.

19

BenJarvus Green-Ellis

NR

--

OK, I was actually impressed. Blocking was superb but BJGE hit the hole hard and even bounced a few carries outside.

20

Mike Nugent

16

-4

This has to be the most worrisome aspect of the team right now. As every part of the team is firing on all cylinders, the kicking game as had too many misses.

Just Missed the Cut: Nate Clements, Mohamed Sanu, Kevin Huber, Cedric Peerman, Trevor Robinson, Pat Sims.
