Mohamed Sanu And Vontaze Burfict Nominated For Rookies of the Month

Though they didn't win because other rookies had a monster month in November, wide receiver Mohamed Sanu and linebacker Vontaze Burfict received recognition.

Though Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III and Buccaneers linebacker Lavonte David won the Offensive and Defensive Rookies of the Month, the Cincinnati Bengals had a handful of promising upstarts nominated for the monthly award.

On offense wide receiver Mohamed Sanu was nominated on offense, generating 13 receptions for 127 yards receiving and four touchdowns. Though hard-pressed to beat out Griffin III and even T.Y. Hilton (five touchdowns, including 75-yard punt return), Sanu's ascension in Cincinnati's offense has helped the Bengals find a sense of identity recently -- though a significant unknown is going down right now regarding his injury.

Linebacker Vontaze Burfict was nominated for Defensive Rookie of the Week, generating 28 tackles with a fumble recovery. Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker LaVonte David led the NFL with 47 tackles in November, five of which were for loss, winning the rookie award this month.
