As we reported earlier on Friday, the Cincinnati Bengals activated defensive tackle Pat Sims on Friday, likely making him available on Sunday. If you remember, Sims broke his ankle late in the 2011 season and was re-signed on a one-year deal this offseason. For the first half of the season, Sims was placed on the PUP List and when he was called off of it, the Bengals were granted a three-week roster exemption for him until he was activated on the roster.
With the activation came a difficult decision for the club, no doubt. With Sims now placed on the roster, the team has waived linebacker Roddrick Muckelroy, per multiple sources. Muckelroy hadn't been seeing much playing time with the Bengals and though the move may be an unpopular one, it isn't entirely unexpected.
If you remember, Muckelroy was a victim of the final cuts this season and was called up to the 53-man roster when Thomas Howard went down with a season-ending knee injury.
