The Bengals' great defensive tackles was selected to John "The Professor" Clayton's All-Pro Team a day after he was nominated for the Pro Bowl.
Bengals defensive tackle Geno Atkins had better make some major room on his mantle after this week. After receiving the nod to his second straight Pro Bowl and earning the AFC Defensive Player of the Week award for his efforts against the Steelers last Sunday, ESPN decided to bestow one more award on him to complete his week of individual achievements.
Atkins was the only Bengals player voted to John Clayton's All-Pro list as a defensive tackle, alongside the Patriots' Vince Wilfork. The All-Pro designation basically means that the members of the media voted that player as one of the best in the league at his respective position. After racking up the most sacks in the NFL by an interior lineman with 12.5, he was a shoe-in for the Pro Bowl and Clayton's subsequent All-Pro nomination. The official All-Pro list by The Associated Press hasn't been released yet, though we're assuming that Atkins makes it there as well.
It's been a big week for the Bengals' defensive MVP, but the thing we hope to hear come Atkins' way is a new contract extension to stay with the Bengals for a long time.
