Former Cincinnati Bengals safety Marvin White, who also had stints with the Dallas Cowboys and Detroit Lions, was stabbed early Christmas morning at a club in Opelousas in St. Laundry Parish, Louisiana.

“Mr. White was totally the victim. It appears to be gang related,” said Megan Vizena with the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s office.

The report says that a fight broke out in a parking lot between White and a man named Shelton Guillory over a woman.

“After interviewing the victim and multiple witnesses, it was learned that the victim had a verbal argument with Guillory before the nightclub closed. As the victim proceeded to his vehicle at the end of the night, he was approached by Guillory and several others. At this time, Guillory pulled out a knife and cut him several times,” Vizena said.

One of the responding deputies was also injured after suffering a broken knee "but is doing well."

White was a fourth-round pick during the 2007 NFL draft by the Bengals. After spending two seasons in Cincinnati, White played for the Lions and Cowboys in 2009 before making a return to Cincinnati for three games in 2010.
