It would be hard for anyone to argue a rookie not named linebacker Vontaze Burfict being promoted as the Cincinnati Bengals rookie of the year. Some would even argue NFL defensive player of the year, but most experts are arguing for Panthers linebacker Luke Kuechly with Burfict largely an afterthought.
Regardless. Burfict went into beast-mode on Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens, generating 18 tackles (10 solo) during Cincinnati's 23-17 regular season finale win. The performance earned him a nomination for Pepsi Max Rookie of the Week. You can vote for Burfict by going to NFL.com/Rookies.
Other nominations include:
- Tennessee Titans linebacker Zach Brown, who generated a sack and two interceptions returned for a touchdown.
- Indianapolis Colts wide receiver T.Y Hilton with four receptions for 111 yards receiving and one touchdown.
- Washington Redskins running back Alfred Morris rushed for 200 yards on 33 carries with three touchdowns.
- Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson completed 15 of 19 passes for 250 yards, 58 yards rushing and two touchdowns (one rushing, one passing).
