Last week, rumors began surfacing that current Cincinnati Bengals assistant coach, Hue Jackson, was to be interviewed for the vacant head coaching job at the University of California, Berkeley. The job seemed like a good fit, given Jackson's California roots and success as a former coach at USC, as well as his one-year stint in the Bay Area as the Oakland Raiders' head coach. Since there was no announcement of Jackson receiving that job, we can only assume that he's not currently in the running at Cal.
Today, Paul Kuharsky (a writer and radio host), reported that Jackson has his sights set on the opening for head coach at the University of Tennessee. A once-dominant program in the SEC, the Volunteers have fallen prey to the newer powerhouses of the conference in the University of Alabama, University of Georgia and the University of Florida. No word has been released on if Jackson has an interview set up or not.
We will update you further as we hear it.
