Bengals WR Jerome Simpson Pleads Guilty To Felony Charge

According to The Cincinnati Enquirer's Jim Hannah, Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Jerome Simpson has pleaded guilty to a felony charge of prohibited acts relating controlled substances on Tuesday in his third court appearance relating to the investigation on the 2.5 pounds of marijuana shipped from California to his Northern Kentucky home.

Simpson was not sentenced today, though. His sentencing will take place on April 5 and will be decided by Kenton Circuit Judge Gregory Bartlett. According to Hannah, the Kenton Commonwealth's Attorney Rob Sanders has recommended that Simpson serve 60 days of a possible three-year sentence behind bars. It's currently unclear what Simpson's punishment will be, though.

Simpson will become a free agent on March 13 and while he proved he's extremely athletic and he has big play ability, the combination of his off-field troubles and his inconsistent play on the field, it's likely that the Bengals will not bring him back for the 2012 season.
