Around The AFC North: Could The Bengals Face Matt Flynn Twice In 2012?

So the Browns aren't going after Robert Griffin III, but is that because they lost the bidding war or because they decided to go another route? Peyton Manning isn't the only quarterback that is looking to make waves by playing for another team in 2012. Matt Flynn is likely going to be wearing a new uniform as well, and according to one source, that new uniform is going to be poop brown and orange.

According to LaVar Arrington, a former linebacker and current radio host of "The LaVar Arrington Show with Chad Dukes," in Washington DC several sources have informed him that the Browns are dead set on acquiring Matt Flynn.

"It seems to be a foregone conclusion that the Cleveland Browns are going to go get Matt Flynn," he said. "If that's the case, and it seemed to be kind of confirmed by the people that I discussed it with, which are very, very in my opinion very credible sources. Unless somebody swoops in and steals that free agent away from the Browns, it appears that the Browns are going to make a strong play to go get him.

"They're going to use their draft pick on [Alabama running back Trent] Richardson."

Flynn made waves around the NFL when he filled in for Aaron Rodgers in Week 17 of the 2011 season against the Lions and threw for 480 yards and six touchdowns. There are other teams reportedly interested in the soon-to-be former Packer, like the Dolphins, who are coached by Joe Philbin, the Packers' offensive coordinator from 2007-2011, but not many teams have the picks to trade away like the Browns do (they have two first-round picks in 2012).

So, it's very possible that instead of staring down Colt McCoy in 2012, the Bengals defense will be looking down the barrel of Flynn's gun instead this coming season. The question is, will it help the Browns, who were kind of a hot mess in 2011, enough to worry the rest of the division in 2012.
