According to Aaron Wilson, the New Orleans Saints have signed Ravens free agent guard Ben Grubbs, presumably to replace guard Carl Nicks, who signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Wednesday.
Ben Grubbs' deal with the Saints is completed, per ESPN, it's worth $36 million and includes a $10 million bonus
This means that both of the top free agent guards are now officially off the market. The Bengals have a lot of needs heading into the 2012 season, but guard is one of the biggest. Bobbie Williams, Nate Livings and Mike McGlynn are all free agents and the three of them took the bulk of the snaps at both guard positions in 2011.
The Bengals are expected to address the guard position with one of their two first-round picks in the upcoming draft, and they have also arranged a free agency visit with Jacob Bell, a former Miami (OH) guard. Many Bengals fans were hopeful that the team would make a move on either Nicks or Grubbs, but they were likely both out of Mike Brown's price range.
