The Bengals 2012 linebacker corps is in a state of flux right now. Nobody knows if Keith Rivers will be healthy to start the season and Manny Lawson may not return as he is getting interest from a number of teams around the league. Then we have the whole Rey Maualuga situation. Not only did he fight an ankle injury and under-perform at middle linebacker last year, but he's facing a legal issue and possible suspension.
Luke Kuechly out of BC is the top inside linebacker prospect in the 2012 Draft and is known as a tackling machine. At 6'3" and 237 pounds, Kuechly had 191 total tackles last season, with 102 solo tackles. The knock on Kuechly is a lack of big-play ability, as he didn't record a forced fumble or sack and had only two interceptions last season. Regardless, the "Mike" linebacker is supposed to be a tackler, allowing others around him to make plays. Kuechly is slated to go in the middle of the first round and could be available to the Bengals at No.17--especially with the Eagles recently trading for DeMeco Ryans.
Other notable prospects at BC's Pro Day workout were: cornerback, Donnie Fletcher, offensive guard, Nathan Richman and the gigantic wide receiver (6'6", 229 pounds) Ifeanyi Momah.
