We've always assumed that eventual free agent wide receiver Andre Caldwell's return to Cincinnati would be a long-shot. Though he's talented, there seemed to be too much inconsistency, especially when he lined up as a slot receiver. Caldwell, a 2008 third round selection, enjoyed his best season in 2009, registering 51 receptions for 432 yards receiving and three touchdowns. In the two years and 28 games since, he's generated only 62 receptions and three touchdowns.
And it would seem that Caldwell is either convinced the Bengals aren't going to bring him back, or that the wide receiver isn't interested in returning to Cincinnati.
There are currently six wide receivers signed under contract for 2012: A.J. Green, Jordan Shipley, Brandon Tate, Armon Binns, Andrew Hawkins, Ryan Whalen while Vidal Hazelton is signed to a futures contract.
