Bengals Officially Announce That Offensive Tackle Dennis Roland Has Re-Signed

We're pretty sure that Colin Cochart is doing everything possible to peal himself away from Dennis Roland.
We're pretty sure that Colin Cochart is doing everything possible to peal himself away from Dennis Roland.

Over the weekend Bengals.com beat writer Geoff Hobson wrote that the Bengals could be close to re-signing offensive tackle Dennis Roland. Now the heavy-debate of where Roland will go for 2012 is answered. Along with Jacob Bell, the Cincinnati Bengals have officially announced on Wednesday that the team re-signed Roland.

Roland took part in 85 offensive snaps in 2011, of which 64 were during running plays, mostly as a sixth offensive lineman. Only three times during the regular season last year (Steelers I, Cleveland II, Houston), did Roland record double-digit offensive snaps. Then again before last season, Roland was a significant contributor (thanks to the "durable" Andre Smith and a run-obsessive offensive philosophy), starting 24 games between 2009 and 2010. Though his pass blocking has always been questionable (nice way of saying tur-able), Roland's definite strength is run blocking.

The Bengals now have five offensive tackles signed for 2012. Behind starters Andrew Whitworth and Andre Smith, Anthony Collins, Roland and Matthew O'Donnell round out the position.
