For the second straight day, the Cincinnati Bengals are continuing to make roster moves. According to the official Twitter account of the Bengals, they have waived third-year safety, Rico Murray.
#Bengals waive S Rico Murray.
Murray has had a tumultuous career in Cincinnati since joining them out of Kent State University. He has been bounced on and off of the roster, either by being waived or by being put on the practice squad. The coaches liked his versatility by being a "swing man", able to play the traditional safety position and line up against wide receivers like a corner would. He's amassed 19 total tackles in his Bengals career, most of those coming on special teams coverage.
With Jason Allen and Terence Newman brought on board, Murray became expendable. It's possible that the team brings him back for Training Camp in a couple of months, either as a camp body or if (knock on wood) an injury occurs. However, on the flip side, he may not get his opportunity to come back to the squad depending on how the draft shakes out in two weeks.
