As we attempt to keep filling our transaction and contract charts, we figured now would be as good a time as any to complete the Manny Lawson file. After agreeing to a one-year deal in late March, outside linebacker Manny Lawson largely promoted the idea that Keith Rivers' career in Cincinnati would come to a close; which directly or indirectly, it did (though we never imagined a trade with the New York Giants of all teams).
According to multiple sites that manage and track contracts, Lawson signed a one-year deal worth $2.1 million. It's unknown what if any bonuses are attributed to the contract, though we imagine a significant portion of the deal is guaranteed.
During his first season with the Bengals last year, Lawson posted 78 tackles, 1.5 quarterback sacks and six quarterback pressures; his seven tackles for loss ranked fourth on the team. Lawson completed the season with 529 defensive snaps, of which 60.9 percent were during running plays in base 4-3 formations. Behind Geno Atkins and Frostee Rucker, Lawson ranked as the team's third-best run defender last season according to Pro Football Focus.
