Nate Webster's Lawyers Argue Minor Was 16 Years Old During Sexual Assault Trial

Opening statements took place for the trial of former Broncos and Buccaneers linebacker (who had a lay-over in Cincinnati in 2003 and 2004) on Tuesday, several months after being accused of sexual battery, gross sexual imposition and "five counts of unlawful sexual conduct of a minor." However Webster's lawyers argued that not only was romp consensual, the girl was 16, not 15.

The guy appears to be a sleaze-bag ass-clown (my professional description), what does it matter if the girl was 15 or 16. According to Kimball Perry with the Cincinnati Enquirer, it could mean the difference of 30 years in prison.

In Ohio, except in rare specific instances, the age of consent is 16. Webster is accused of having sex with the girl when she was 15 – and he tells police that on a recording. But his attorneys said Tuesday that Webster’s recorded recollection was wrong.

In other words, despite the fact that police have a recorded admission of Webster having sex with a 15-year old, if she was indeed 16, then it's possible no law was broken.
