It may be 2012 NFL Draft eve, but don't for a moment think that means the end of mock drafts. Mike Mayock of NFL Network released his only mock of the offseason today, and his selections ring a familiar note for the Cincinnati Bengals.
At No. 17, Mayock has the Bengals selecting....
Dre Kirkpatrick, Cornerback, Alabama
Kirkpatrick has been a very popular mock pick for Cincinnati and, given the team's desperate need for talent at the cornerback position, that mock may very well become reality. Kirkpatrick is 22 years old and measured pre-draft at 6 foot 1 inch, 185lbs. He ran a 4.51 40 yard dash at the NFL combine.
At No. 21, more of the same:
David DeCastro, Guard, Stanford
This pick would have been probable a week ago, but with Marvin Lewis's comments that in recent drafts the Bengals have "neglected the defense", coupled with yesterday's report that the Bengals would use a first round pick on Alabama linebacker Courtney Upshaw, now the idea of a guard taken in the first round seems highly unlikely. However, only time will tell.
Other notable picks:
12. Seattle Seahawks--Quinton Coples, DE
15. Philadelphia Eagles--Stephon Gilmore, CB
16. New York Jets--Michael Floyd, WR
20. Tennessee Titans--Stephen Hill, WR
23. Detroit Lions--Courtney Upshaw, LB
