With the 27th pick in the 2012 Cincy Jungle Mock Draft, Anthony Knox selected for the New England Patriots, who earned their pick by giving their first-round pick in 2011 draft to the Saints so they could select running back Mark Ingram in the first round.
With the No. 27 overall pick in the 2012 Cincy Jungle Mock Draft, the New England Patriots select...
Andre Branch, DE, Clemson
With the 27th pick of the NFL Draft, the New England Patriots select Andre Branch: DE/OLB Clemson. Branch is a rather long defender at 6'5" 259, and he does have sideline to sideline speed, having run a 4.7 in the 40. In New England's defensive scheme, a 4-3 that stresses versatility, Branch will be able to drop into pass coverage as well as doing some straight line pass rushing.
When looking at this pick as the Patriots would, there are several positions to consider: running back, as we Bengal fans already know they lost Law Firm....where did he go again? O-line, but that looks a bit picked over at this point, and defensive help. The Patriots' D was a huge liability last season, so while they will definitely do something through free agency later on, one of the two Round 1 picks should go to the D, and Branch is it. Above and beyond that....WHO DEY everyone.
Andre Branch Highlights:
Joe Goodberry's Instant Analysis:
The Patriots go pass rusher with their first pick and Andre Branch could end up being the best one in the draft. He has a great first step and possesses good length. In New England's hybrid defense, Branch should get time at both DE and OLB.
