On Friday the Cincinnati Bengals announced that fifth-round cornerback Shaun Prater has signed his contract. According to Aaron Wilson the contract is the standard four-year deal worth $2.285 million with a $185,000 signing bonus.
Prater is sitting within a loaded roster of cornerbacks, led by Leon Hall and Nate Clements as your early (like May 12, 2012 early) favorites to start the regular season. Behind the starters is six cornerbacks vying for a limited number of spots on the 53-man roster, including rookie Dre Kirkpatrick, recent signings like Terence Newman, Jason Allen and Adam Jones (re-signing) and Brandon Ghee.
The Cincinnati Bengals have five of their ten draft picks signed to contracts as of this posting, with Kirkpatrick, guard Kevin Zeitler, wide receiver Mohamed Sanu, defensive tackle Brandon Thompson and running back Dan "Boom" Herron unsigned. However with the Collective Bargaining Agreement allowing rookie signings to be seamless and peaceful, we expect they'll sign soon enough.
