Cantor Gaming is an oddsmaking service that operates multiple Nevada sportsbooks. They released their over/under bets on the regular season win totals for the 32 NFL teams today. The Packers and Patriots have the highest win total, with 12.
The Bengals were listed with a win total of 7.5. Division rivals Baltimore and Pittsburgh had a win total of ten, while Cleveland was projected at 5.5 wins. Betting men and women can wager on whether the team will finish with greater or fewer wins than Cantor's total.
At first glance, the Bengals win total projection seems a little bit low. Cantor has eight teams in the AFC finishing with more wins than the Bengals. While Cincinnati certainly has a much tougher schedule this year than last year, they had an offseason that ESPN's Bill Polian said was possibly the best offseason in the NFL. While this Over-Under business does not mean much in the scheme of things, it is something that could get the team fired up.
They seem to already be jelling as a unit, which is something that usually does not happen this early into OTA's. Perhaps seeing that Vegas is still not taking them seriously will push them even harder and make this already-hungry team want it that much more. Let's face the facts--if the Bengals go under the 7.5 victories this season, it will be a huge disappointment, akin to the 2010 season. Last year, the Bengals Over-Under win total was set at 6.5. The team ended the season with nine victories.
