The United States Olympic trials continues and the dog days of summer (a bit early it seems) invites the comfort of (previously titled) America's Pastime back into our summer routines. The Euro 2012 tournament will have a "final four" by day's end, a promising pitching duel and the college world series will bring today's sports on television to a close.
MLB Baseball: Minnesota Twins at Cincinnati Reds (1:00 PM, Fox Sports Ohio)
Cincinnati tied the weekend series at one after Johnny Cueto dominated the Twins during Saturday's Reds Hall of Fame enshrinement of Dan Driessen, Sean Casey and John Reilly. Mike Leake (2-5, 4.70 ERA) takes the mound against Minnesota's Scott Diamond (5-3, 2.57).
PGA Tour Golf: Travelers Championship (1:00 PM, Golf Channel)
Brian Davis and Roland Thatcher lead the field heading into the fourth round with nine golfers within three strokes.
MLB: Atlanta Braves at Boston Red Sox (1:30 PM, TBS)
Will Middlebrooks, whose performances this year (especially recently) has limited Kevin Youkilis' playing time at third base, helped tie the weekend series following Boston's 8-4 win over Atlanta on Saturday. The Braves have Mike Minor (3-5, 6.04) taking the hill against Aaron Cook (0-1, 20.25).
EURO 2012: England vs. Italy (2:30 PM, ESPN)
After their 2-0 win over France on Saturday, Spain will face Portugal on June 27 while the winner of England and Italy will face Germany on June 28.
NASCAR Sprint Cup: Toyota/Save Mart 350 (3:00 PM, TNT)
If you thought NASCAR was boring running around in circles (I actually don't but many do), then you'll hate NASCAR on a road course. Though the cars perform fine on a road course, there is far fewer chances for cars to pass each other.
PGA Tour Golf: Travelers Championship (3:00 PM, CBS)
The fourth-round of the Travelers Championship moves to CBS from the Golf Channel.
U.S. Olympic Trials: Diving (3:00 PM, NBC)
The United States 2012 Olympic games starts with the trials, where Americans compete against each other for a spot on the roster.
LPGA Tour Golf: Manulife Financial Classic (4:00 PM, Golf Channel)
Inbee Park continues to be the best in the filed, shooting a 66 on Saturday, giving her a two-stroke lead over Brittany Lang and Hee Kyung Seo for the tournament.
U.S. Olympic Trials: Track and Field (7:00 PM, NBC)
The United States 2012 Olympic games starts with the trials, where Americans compete against each other for a spot on the roster.
MLB Baseball: New York Yankees at New York Mets (8:00 PM, ESPN2)
The rubber match for the weekend series comes down to two of the better pitchers in the game. The Mets' R.A. Dickey (11-1, 2.00 ERA), coming off back-to-back one-hit shutouts, has won his last six starts holding opponents to a .131 batting average. C.C. Sabathia has won nine games already this year, sporting a 3.55 ERA.
College World Series: Finals, Game One (8:00 PM, ESPN2)
South Carolina is looking to win their third consecutive College World Series, starting with Game One of the three-game series. If you have no interest to watch, then consider this: Arizona's third baseman Seth Mejias-Brean (8th round) and South Carolina outfield Adam Matthews (29th round) were draft picks by the Cincinnati Reds this year.
