According to Vittorio Tatur of the San Francisco Chronicle, there's a solid chance that former Bengals running back Cedric Benson could be signed by the Oakland Raiders within the next couple of week.

This isn't the first time Benson's name has been linked with the Oakland Raiders. ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter initially reported last week that the Raiders were "expressing some interest" in the free agent running back.

Benson's greatest success in his NFL career has been with the Bengals, generating 4,176 yards rushing (three 1,000-yard seasons) and 21 total touchdowns in four seasons with the team. However he also lost seven of 12 fumbles in his previous two seasons, which was further marred with several public complaints about the team's overall offensive philosophy.

Cincinnati allowed Benson to leave for free agency when his contract expired, mutually going their separate ways with the Bengals signing BenJarvus Green-Ellis to a three-year deal, worth $9 million (and $3 million guaranteed) on March 21, 2012.
