During a questionnaire for the Star-Ledger, New York Giants linebacker Keith Rivers told Mike Garafolo that the former Bengals first-round pick was given "a little say when it came to the team" he was traded to. Rivers said:
Well, there were a lot of moving parts to the deal. Like, there was an injury grievance. So everything had to go a certain way to get done.
So were the Giants the most desirable spot for you?
Yeah, definitely. When that name popped up, that was definitely a name of excitement and arguably my favorite city. I’ve been coming to New York since I got to the NFL.
Rivers was traded to the New York Giants on April 11 for the No. 167 pick of the 2012 NFL draft, which was used by the Bengals to select Boise State safety George Iloka. What's interesting is that the Bengals gave Rivers, if you believe him, some say on which team he could be traded to.
