As you may or may not know, Reds slugger Joey Votto is out for three to four weeks after suffering a torn meniscus. Votto finally asked for an MRI last night after injuring his knee in late June in San Francisco. Votto was largely ineffective on the west coast trip and in the St. Louis series. Should the Reds have asked Votto to get the MRI done sooner? Should he have played in the All Star game? Also, what will the Reds do to make up for the loss of Votto? Will they look to acquire another first baseman like Bryan LaHair from the Cubs or Ty Wigginton from the Phillies? Or they could stick Todd Frazier and Miguel Cairo there and call up Henry Rodriguez to spell Scott Rolen at third base. Of course, we all expect the team to acquire a lead-off hitter at some point before the July 31 trading deadline. I would like to see Juan Pierre gift wrapped to the Reds from the Phiilies. Pierre would not require our top prospects like a Shane Victorino or Denard Span would. What would you do if you were Reds GM Walt Jocketty? Speak up about something, because life is too short to stay quiet.
