The Cincinnati Bengals announced that Dre Kirkpatrick was placed on the Active/Non-Football Injury List Friday afternoon, which is much like the Active/PUP however with possibly different salary considerations. Kirkpatrick, who is dealing with Osgood-Schlatter Syndrome, reportedly broke a small bone in his knee several weeks ago.
Now Kirkpatrick is officially unavailable to practice until he's medically cleared. If the injury is more prolonged than expected, Kirkpatrick would then be eligible for the Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform List. In that case the rookie cornerback would be unable to play or practice the first six weeks of the regular season.
However head coach Marvin Lewis called the injury "minor" and doesn't think the start of his season will be jeopardized.
