Depth charts are very meaningless things this early in training camp. However something can be learned from them -- who is rising, who is falling, etc. Based on the team's opening practices this weekend, an early picture is being painted on the team's linebacker depth.

Save for an injury, Thomas Howard, Rey Maualuga and Manny Lawson are your starting linebackers this year. Behind Maualuga favors Roddrick Muckelroy as the backup middle linebacker with rookie Vontaze Burfict and Grant Hunter on third-team and fourth-team respectively. Behind Howard at weakside linebacker is Vincent Rey. Backing up Manny Lawson has been Dan Skuta. According to Brennen Warner's observations on Friday and Saturday, the basic linebacker roster, in an easier to read chart, looks like this:

Friday

Weakside Middle Strongside
Thomas Howard Rey Maualuga Manny Lawson
Vincent Rey Roddrick Muckelroy Dan Skuta
Emmanual Lamur Vontaze Burfict Micah Johnson
Emmanual Lamur Grant Hunter Micah Johnson

Saturday

Weakside Middle Strongside
Thomas Howard Rey Maualuga Manny Lawson
Vincent Rey Roddrick Muckelroy Dan Skuta
Emmanual Lamur Vontaze Burfict Dontay Moch
Micah Johnson Grant Hunter Dontay Moch
