On Monday, former NFL linebacker Keith Bulluck and Jim Miller interviewed Andy Dalton at Bengals Training Camp. The interview was on Sirius XM radio and the following is a excerpt of that interview that has been transcribed. Enjoy.
KB: "Watching you last year as a rookie, you were very poised--one of the most poised rookie quarterbacks I've seen in a long time. What do you attribute your success to from last year?"
AD: "Yeah, part of the poise that I have is knowing that you can't get too high or too low no matter what's going on. I've understood that for a while and that's how I feel that I was in high school and in college and now here. So, I think it's a big reason why I was able to do some of the things I did last year, whether it was coming back after throwing an interception..."
JM: "With all of that said and that's all high praise, but now more is expected. I was very impressed with your walkthrough today, it looks like more plays, things are a lot easier and as we know...what do you expect of yourself in year two? Talk about expanding this offense of the Cincinnati Bengals."
AD: "I think that what we're going to be able to do this year is put in a lot more into the offense. Last year with no OTAs, minicamp, it wasn't just a new offense for the rookies, it was a new offense for everybody with having a new offensive coordinator. So, I think just having that extra time this year will allow us to expand things and do a lot more stuff, just because we've had the time to put stuff in and guys are more comfortable and know what they're doing. We might switch guys in and out and tag different receivers on different plays. I think that that's where this offense can really expand."
