The Cincinnati Bengals responded to a quick 10-point hole that they found themselves in by driving down the field and getting the first three points up on the board with a 34-yard Mike Nugent field goal. The Ravens now lead the Bengals by a score of 10-3.
The drive started on a sour note as Brandon Tate, an experienced kick and punt returner, decided it would be wise to return a kick nine-yards deep out of the end zone, which gave Andy Dalton and the Bengals offense a start on their own five-yard line. However, a nice mixture of running and passing plays allowed Dalton to lead the Bengals on a 13-play, 66-yard driver that stalled on the Ravens' 34-yard line, setting Nugent up for the kick. Things could have been different for the Bengals as well. If it hadn't been for a terrible call on a A.J. Green catch that ruled a dropped pass (it was obviously a catch that was knocked loose of Green's grasp when he hit the ground) the drive could have ended up very differently.
All in all, Dalton completed four passes for 40 yards to Green, Armon Binns, Andrew Hawkins and Jermaine Gresham and BenJarvus Green-Ellis had a few nice runs, including a 13-yard carry against the stout Ravens defense. The Bengals will need to respond defensively to give their offense a shot at driving again on the Ravens to attempt to even up the game.
