Daniel "Boom" Herron signed by Colts from Bengals practice squad

Needing depth, the Colts signed Herron to the 53 man active roster today

Howard Smith-USA TODAY Sports

The Colts have lost running backs Ahmad Bradshaw and Vick Ballard to season-ending injuries. Needless to say they need some back up depth. So they decide to pick the pocket of the Bengals and sign Daniel "Boom" Herron from the Bengals practice squad.

Herron has appeared in three career games with the Cincinnati Bengals after being a sixth round selection in the 2012 NFL Draft. Before that, Herron played at The Ohio State University where he totaled 592 rushing attempts for 2,869 yards and 32 touchdowns. He also had 44 receptions for 309 yards and a touchdown.

In four preseason games this season he lead the Bengals in rushing yds. Last season Herron was active for three games and recorded two blocked punts and one partially blocked punt.

Herron was probably not going to crack the roster for the Bengals as a running back this season unless there were injury issues. However, with his contribution on special teams in the games he has played, this is a loss for the Bengals and I am sad to see him go.
