Marvin Lewis Gives Some Thoughts On Quarterback Andy Dalton

Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis joined Lance McAlister's local radio show on 700 WLW to talk about a variety of topics. One of which surrounded the future of Bengals quarterback, Andy Dalton.

The Cincinnati Bengals have officially entered their bye week and are in the process of resting up. While head coach Marvin Lewis proclaimed that the team will be at "full strength" (relatively speaking) after the bye, he is also busy fielding questions on other facets of his team. Namely, his quarterback.

Andy Dalton has come under quite a bit of scrutiny for his erratic and streaky play this season. Lewis joined Lance McAlister of 700 WLW on Tuesday and was asked a couple of questions about the quarterback. They ranged from his thoughts on the team booing his performance against the Browns on Sunday, as well as if Dalton should be paid along the lines of some of the league's better quarterbacks.

If you're wondering why the $100 million figure was thrown out to Marvin by the host, that's because a number of different NFL quarterbacks signed extensions this past offseason that were right around that amount. The Packers' Aaron Rodgers ($110 million), the Ravens' Joe Flacco ($120.6 million), the Cowboys' Tony Romo ($108 million), and the Falcons' Matt Ryan (nearly $104 million) all hit a big payday this spring/summer.

Rodgers and Flacco have Super Bowl rings to their respective names, but Romo and Ryan have had very limited postseason success. Dalton is 0-2 in the postseason, but is eying his third postseason trip in as many NFL seasons. It's hard to say exactly what Lewis means with this comment, but it sounds as if the head coach is confident in his quarterback and that he will be under center for this team in the future.

Then again, it's not Marvin's signature on the paychecks--that one goes to Mike Brown.
