2013 NFL Draft: Alec Ogletree Charged With DUI

You would think that with such little time before the 2013 NFL Draft, any player with a shot at being selected in first round would be terrified of even leaving their bedrooms just in case something happened that could hurt their stock, which could literally be almost anything. Unfortunately, that doesn't always happen. Georgia Bulldogs linebacker Alec Ogletree, who has been selected by the Bengals in several mock drafts, was arrested and charged with a DUI.

His agent, Pat Dye Jr., released the following statement:

"Last weekend, my client Alec Ogletree was pulled over for speeding and a lane violation in Arizona. After the officers smelled alcohol, they conducted tests and also cited him for DUI. Although Alec regrets this incident terribly, he is thankful that there was no accident and that no one was hurt. Because this matter is still pending, we cannot comment further publicly at this time."

It has also been revealed that this is the latest incident in a long chain of events that demonstrate poor decision making by Ogletree. According to Yahoo! Sports' Doug Farrar, Ogletree was suspended for four games at the start of the 2012 season for violation of the team's substance-abuse policy. He was also arrested for the theft of a motor scooter helmet from a member of Georgia's track and field team before his first collegiate start, which resulted in a one-game suspension.

Ogletree's physical abilities and his ability to make plays at linebacker suggest he has the potential to be a first-round pick. However, his decision making ability could knock him right out of the first round. The Bengals have a history of not being afraid to draft players with character concerns but in recent years they have done a good job at shying away from players that have made headlines for the wrong reasons in early rounds. If they stick to that moto, Ogletree could pass right by the Bengals in the first round.
