The Cincinnati Bengals reportedly have held discussions with defensive end Carlos Dunlap about an extension. Dunlap is entering the final year of his four-year rookie deal, scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent after the 2013 season.
Marvin Lewis admitted that no position on the roster is safe, except for staring quarterback (and we're fairly certain most positions as well). However Lewis also hints at a center competition between Trevor Robinson and Kyle Cook for starting center.
Representatives for defensive tackle Domata Peko approached the Bengals about an extension recently, with Cincinnati saying that they weren't ready to negotiate yet. Nice timing, considering the other free agent needs facing this team, as well as the extensions expected to be handed out for next year's free agents. Peko will be a free agent after the 2014 season.
Head coach Marvin Lewis hasn't forgotten about last year's second-round selection, defensive tackle Devon Still.
Offensive coordinator Jay Gruden came to Andy Dalton's defense... again.
The Bengals hope to avoid using the franchise tag, but they will use it if they have to.
Though there's nothing concrete, the relationship between the Bengals and Adam Jones suggest that the cornerback and team should be able to get something done. Jones will be a free agent next month.
Director of Player Personnel Duke Tobin receives a lot of credit for being a major part of the team's draft successes in recent years.
The Marvin Lewis transcript from Friday's press conference.
Former Bengals running back Jim Anderson was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Fritz Pollard Alliance.
