Cincinnati Bengals quarterback coach Ken Zampese is attending Western Michigan University's Pro Day on Tuesday, according to David Drew, who covers the school for the Kalamazoo Gazette.
Alex Carder, the only quarterback working out at WMU Tuesday, generated 61 touchdowns during his sophomore and junior seasons combined, but suffered an injured finger on his throwing hand which forced him to miss six games. During 66-63 loss to Toledo on November 2011, Carder set a new Mid-American Confernce record with seven passing touchdowns as well as a single-season school record 548 yards passing.
Carder also completed 9 of 11 passes for 95 yards passing during the East-West Shrine game, dominating opposing quarterback Colin Klein.
Cincinnati is expected to look for a younger option at quarterback to develop during the late rounds of the 2013 NFL draft and even undrafted free agents, where Carder is projected. However Cincinnati will still employ a veteran in case something happens with Dalton prior to the development quarterback being... you know... developed.
