With Bruce Gradkowski leaving Cincinnati for Pittsburgh on a three-year deal to backup starting quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, the Cincinnati Bengals suddenly found themselves in a need for help at the position.

According to Jason La Canfora with, the Bengals worked out quarterback Josh Johnson this week.

Johnson was listed by ESPN's Free Agency tracker as the fifth best quarterback currently available. Johnson spent his first four seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before spending last year with the Cleveland Browns.

For his career Johnson has completed 54.2 percent of his throws for 1,1042 yards passing, five touchdowns and ten interceptions (gulp).

It's believed that the Bengals will sign a veteran backup quarterback while also drafting a young quarterback to groom as the eventual backup.
