New Orleans Saints Sign Former Steelers CB Keenan Lewis

New, comment

The Pittsburgh Steelers have lost another defensive player after Keenan Lewis signed a five-year deal with the New Orleans Saints.

Jason Bridge-USA TODAY Sports

The Pittsburgh Steelers, after rounds of renegotiated contracts and the release of notable players, have suffered much of Cincinnati's free agency designs by re-signing their own, though plopping backup solutions into the roster. Two noteable names have already departed in wide receiver Mike Wallace (Miami Dolphins) and running back Rashard Mendenhall (Arizona Cardinals); other names like James Harrison and Willie Colon were already released.

On Thursday former cornerback Keenan Lewis reached an agreement with the New Orleans Saints.

Lewis was a third-round pick by the Steelers out of Oregon State in the 2009 NFL Draft. He struggled to get a lot of playing time in his first two seasons, but played in every game in 2011 and 2012, finally breaking into the starting lineup this past season. In his first four seasons in the league, Lewis has made 120 tackles, picked off one pass and broke up 29 others.
